Chelsea 2-2 Burnley: David Luiz accuses Clarets of playing ‘anti-football’ after they deny Blues
David Luiz has accused Burnley of playing ‘anti-football’ after the Clarets held Chelsea to a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge on Monday night. The Blues missed a golden opportunity to move up to third after a frustrating night at Stamford Bridge, which saw four goals inside the opening 24 minutes.Luiz was furious with Burnley’s tactics1

Two quickfire goals from NGolo Kante and Gonzalo Higuain quickly cancelled out Jeff Hendricks stunning opener, before Ashley Barnes ghosted in to draw Burnley level. The hosts bossed possession for the remainder of the game, but they failed to seriously test Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton, who was booked for time wasting in the first-half.And Luiz was not impressed with the visitors’ approach. He told Sky Sports: “We tried everything to win the game, but it’s difficult playing a team who has two chances, score two goals, but didn’t want to play the game.“For me, the authority on the pitch is the referee, and when he is not there to try to check what he has to do on the pitch, it’s difficult.“They were trying to time waste from the first minute of the first half, and then it was anti-football so it’s difficult to play against.”Ugly scenes broke out on the touchline towards the end as Maurizio Sarri was sent to the stands – and his assistant Gianfranco Zola also took issue with Burnley’s approach.

He said: “I think in the second half we didn’t play much football.“There was a lot of time-wasting and we felt five minutes wasn’t enough to compensate for all the lost time and lost rhythm.“We are not very happy. I understand Burnley’s approach, but we’re very unhappy. Five minutes wasn’t enough [stoppage time].”The point all but secures Burnley’s safety in the Premier League, with the Clarets nine points clear of Cardiff with a superior goal difference.
